AEW Dynamite
WWE NXT

So far, it has been six weeks since AEW's Dynamite on the TNT network and WWE's NXT on USA has gone head-to-head on Wednesday nights. And so far, Dynamite is 6 and 0. However, that may be coming to an end soon. Thanks to WWE's NXT invasion angle, Dynamite was only able to squeak out a very marginal victory this week. How marginal? This week's NXT viewership is just a negligible 1.1% behind that of Dynamite's.

Ever since the debut of the NXT invasion angle on the November 1st edition on WWE Smackdown, there seems to have been a renewed interest in the WWE from both critics and wrestling fans, and this is evident from the ratings. Compared to the previous week's NXT, this week's ratings jumped a whopping 40.2%. Of course, though, part of that had to do with the fact that the previous week saw stiff competition in the form of the MLB World Series. During this week's NXT, we saw the more well known names of AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows (a.k.a the O.C.) from Smackdown as part of the invasion angle.

On the Dynamite side, the ratings also rose, but it was only by 8.3%. Again, this was most likely due to the competition created by the World Series during the previous week. This week's episode was headlined by Hangman Page and Kenny Omega versus Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara, a match featuring some of the company's biggest stars. The show also included very entertaining promos and segments leading up to the company's first pay per view of Full Gear this coming Saturday.

Next week's ratings should prove to be very interesting. On the AEW side, there will very likely be fallout from Full Gear which should attract some eyeballs. On the WWE side, NXT is now in a position to get its first victory in the ratings war, especially if it can continue the momentum it has been enjoying so far. Or, might the invasion angle have lost its spark by then. I guess we will just have to anxiously wait and see.
