For the second week in a row, WWE NXT has scored a decisive victory over AEW Dynamite in the Wednesday Night Wars. In fact, NXT dominated its competition. But of course, that is only because no AEW Dynamite aired this week due to the Chrsitmas holiday.

Suprisingly, the number of viewers went up for NXT, going from 795,000 viewers to 831,000 (a rise of 4.5%). Granted that NXT had no competition this week. However, given that it was Christmas day, I would have expected a drop in viewership. I guess the AEW fans had to turn somewhere to get their wrestling fix. In the 18-49 demographics, NXT's rating actually went down significantly from 0.27 to 0.22 (a drop of 18.5%). So it seems like the additional NXT viewers this week were most likely on the older side. Since there was no actial head-to-head competition this week, the win-loss record between the two shows remains the same. In terms of viewership, NXT has a record of 3-8-1, and Dynamite has a record of 8-3-1. For the 18-49 demographic ratings, the record is 1-11 for NXT and 11-1 for Dynamite.

Although there was an episode of NXT this week, it wasn't the usual live show from Full Sail University. It wasn't even a pre-taped show like this week's episode of Raw. Instead, it was more of a studio show which featured dark matches from recent NXT events. With that being the case, there were no storyline advancements of any kind. It was simply a collection of individual wrestling matches. That's not to say that the show wasn't worth watching. A few of the matches were quite entertaining, such as the tag team bout between Keith Lee/Lio Rush and Damian Priest/Tony Nese which ended with Lee/Rush getting the victory. Another hightlight was the match between North American champion Roderick Strong and newcomer Austin Theory. The two performers showed off a series of impressive maneuvers in a match packed with back and forth action before Strong eventually got the win.

There isn't much to report this week since Dynamite didn't air and NXT was just a collection of past dark matches. The next edition of the Wednesday Night Wars will occur on January 1, 2020. We'll see then how the two promotions plan to gain the advantage in the new year.
