The rankings of network dramas for the week of January 6, 2020 are shown below. The winter break is over, and we are treated with a flood of first-run network dramas (except from the CW). As usual, CBS dominated the top 5 spots, but there is a new contender in town. While four of the top five spots where snatched by the usual ratings juggernauts of NCIS, FBI, Blue Bloods, and Hawaii 5-0, NBC's Chicago Fire was able to slip into the middle of the list at #3. This was the season premiere of the show, and it featured a cross-over event with fellow NBC shows Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. (both of which also did well in the ratings). So the question now is whether this NBC franchise of Chicago based shows will be able to disturb CBS's stranglehold of the top rated TV dramas. At the very bottom of the list (excluding repeats) is FOX's Almost Family for the second week in a row. With this track record, it is highly unlikely that this freshman drama will be renewed for a second season.
